What's it like?

The first half day of the workshop we will spend time introducing ourselves, setting intentions for the workshop and going over the main principles and structure of the workshop, so that we get to know each other better and understand the guidelines of our time together. This helps create safety and a good container to proceed with the turns during the following days.

The rest of the days will be dedicated for each participant to have an opportunity to take a turn where they can do a deep exploration of their intention and what they want to get for themselves with the support of the facilitator/s and the group. Turns last normally between 1 and a half and 2 and a half hours. This exploration is facilitated with care and awareness providing a somatic approach for getting in touch with early life experiences and imprints at a pace that is integrating. The turn also often serves to create a coherent narrative and understanding of the aspects of the history that the participant is exploring, as well as provides a deeper understanding of the usefulness of the strategies used to survive and cope with the experiences we have lived. Once this is realized, it is easier to find other options to face our lives with more space and choice from our present age.

The facilitator/s will support each participant in the group to take a turn, as well as support the process of negotiating who will take the turn at each time, and facilitate the group process to support the intention of the turn person. In this way, the group becomes the surround for the turn person.

Once the turn is complete, participants are invited to briefly share how they have felt touched by the person taking the turn. These are essence and differentiation statements.

After a break or the following day there will be some time dedicated to debrief the session. Often turns are very experiential and an opportunity for participants to connect with their right brain and with implicit memories that were not part of their awareness before. During the debriefing there will be an opportunity to process what was experienced during the turn bridging it with the cognitive aspect of the left brain, allowing for further integration.

Before the workshop is finished, the facilitator/s will offer suggestions for further integration during the following weeks as well as for creating structures of support.
